Social media has been abuzz with debate about the 2028 women's basketball roster for the Los Angeles Olympics. Many fans have focused their thoughts on the WNBA's newcomers, such as Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese.

A recent Instagram post by "The Sporting News" revealed a potential starting lineup for the 2028 Olympic roster, which included JuJu Watkins, Kelsey Plum, Breanna Stewart, A'ja Wilson and Clark.

While all five of these players have shown elite-level talent, fans in the comments were confused with Angel Reese coming off the bench.

They believe Reese, who will be 26 years old in 2028, will have the experience and skill set to start for the United States.

"Reese will start for sure hands down," said one fan.

"Angel Reese, Caitlin Clark, JuJu Watkins, Paige Bueckers and Cameron Brink are all starting in 2028!!!" mentioned another fan.

"What's wrong with these people Angel Reese just stepped all over the USA team please," commented another.

While Reese has proven to be one of the best players in the WNBA, recently playing in the All-Star game, the main question surrounds who fans believe will be benched for the Sky forward.

Since Plum, Watson and Clark are all guards, the only two options are Stewart and Wilson.

Stewart and Wilson were both starters for the Team USA basketball roster in the 2024 Olympics. They're also two former WNBA MVPs, so Reese's replacement for either of those women would be debatable.

Reese is currently averaging 13.5 points and 11.9 rebounds per game. She's had a solid rookie season, but Wilson and Stewart are in the prime of their careers.

Wilson is leading the league in points, rebounds, and blocks in the 2024 season. She's averaging 27.2 points, 12.0 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks per game.

Stewart, on the other hand, has posted 19.3 points and 9.0 rebounds per game.

They helped Team USA secure a 6-0 record in the Paris Olympics after defeating France 67-66 in the gold medal game.

While Reese has shown incredible talent in her rookie season, and fans believe she should be a starter, it's difficult to debate with Wilson and Stewart's track record.

"Angel Reese will participate - you know this," said one fan.

"Angel Reese should be in that picture, and I'm not a fan of hers." mentioned another fan.

"Angel Reese should join USA Olympic team next year," said another fan.
