Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese turned quite a few heads when she announced she was joining the new Unrivaled basketball league co-founded by New York Liberty forward Breanna Stewart and Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier.

And while the league, which begins debuts in January 2025 and plays during the WNBA offseason, is gaining steam by bringing on big names like Reese and UConn star Paige Bueckers, one notable player has yet to get an invite to play.

“Just for clarification because I continuously keep getting asked, I was not invited to unrivaled,” Reese’s Sky teammate Chennedy Carter tweeted. “I didn’t get picked.”

Carter is currently top-15 in the WNBA in scoring (17.2 points per game) and field-goal percentage (51.8), and she’s also averaging 2.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.3 steals per game. She leads the Sky in scoring despite playing the fifth-most minutes on the team.

It’s not known if Carter’s post was simply to clear up some confusion or if she lobbying for an invite to the league, which pays an average salary of $250,000 — well above the WNBA’s $102,000 average salary.

In addition to Reese, Stewart and Collier, several other notable WNBA players including Chelsea Gray, Arike Ogunbowale, Jewell Loyd, Kelsey Plum, Rhyne Howard, Kahleah Copper and Jackie Young have signed on to join Unrivaled.
