The official preseason AP poll has been released, and Utah landed as the 12th best team in the, and the highest-ranked Big 12 team on the list. However, Fox Sports' RJ Young went a step further and ranked every single team in college football, leaving Utah at the same spot they reside in for the actual rankings.

When talking about the Utes' spot on the list, Young said, "This is a bet on Kyle Whittingham and Cam Rising. With Rising at quarterback, Utah played in back-to-back Rose Bowls with back-to-back Pac-12 titles. The Utes also return tight end Brant Kuithe, who could be the best tight end in the league."

He continued, saying, "Utah's road matchup against Oklahoma State on Sept. 21 could be a preview of the Big 12 title game, especially if Rising and outstanding wideout Dorian Singer form a partnership. With Kuithe, Mycah Pittman, and Micah Bernard — who will be backed up by 1,100-yard Idaho rusher Anthony Woods — all expected to play major roles in the offense, there's no reason to believe this team can't become the second team under Whittingham to run the table."

Comparing the Power 4 conference's best and worst teams based on Young's rankings, the Big 10's best team is Ohio State at #1 while their worst team is Indiana at #97. For the SEC, Georgia comes in as the conference's best team at #2 while the worst team is Vanderbilt at #99. Utah is the Big 12's best team at #12, and Houston is the lowest-ranked in the conference at #76, and for the ACC, FSU at #5 is the conference's best team with Stanford coming in at #98, making them the worst team.

While the Big 12 has the lowest-ranked "best team" out of the bunch, the discrepancy between the best and worst is by far and away the smallest which goes to show how deep the conference truly is, and is even more of a testament to Utah's roster and coaching for them to be ranked so high.
