The Miami Marlins played the second and final game of their two-game road series with the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday night, and lost 9-5 and split the series. This was a game featuring lots of offense, particularly for the Phillies.

Miami had an early 3-0 lead in this game with the help of a three-run home run by Jonah Bride in the first inning. After Philadelphia gained a couple of runs, Miami's lead became 5-2 after RBIs by Bride and Jesús Sánchez. It went all downhill after Philadelphia designated hitter Kyle Schwarber blasted a grand slam to make it 6-5 Phillies. They would gain three more runs to seal the game.

It wasn't a good night for either starting pitcher. Edward Cabrera pitched for Miami and went four innings, allowing six runs on six hits and he only struck out four batters. He ended up becoming the losing pitcher of the game.

Tyler Phillips pitched for Philadelphia. He went a little longer than Cabrera at four and a third innings, allowing five runs on nine hits and he struck out four batters.

Each team struggled a bit with runners in scoring position. Miami went three for 11 in that category with 10 runners left on base, while Philadelphia went five for 14 and only stranded five runners.

The Phillies have won for the 70th time this season and are still the top team in the National League East division.

Meanwhile, for Miami, they are now 45-76. They will have an off day tomorrow before coming to Citi Field to take on another division rival, the New York Mets for a three-game weekend series beginning Friday, Aug. 16.
