San Antonio Spurs center and French national basketball player Victor Wembanayma recently joined M6 Info, a news station in France, where he recapped his time at the Paris Olympics.

While Wembanyama spoke about the gold medal game, in which France lost to Team USA, 98-87, he was asked about one particular matchup.

Wembanyama battled with Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant on both ends of the floor, and after the game, the NBA veteran had a lengthy conversation with the young star.

The 20-year-old center was emotional when France dropped the gold medal game in Paris, but Durant was there to console Wembanyama, per M6 Info's observation.

During the interview with M6 Info, Wembanyama was asked about his postgame interaction with Durant, and the French star made it known that the two-time NBA champion was his childhood favorite player.

"He's my childhood favorite," Wembanyama said. "I made it clear that I wanted to learn from him and steal one or two of his secret techniques."

Despite Durant being an Olympic superstar, garnering four gold medals in his international career with Team USA, Wembanyama looked like the superstar in the gold medal game.

The Spurs star scored a game-high 26 points, shooting 11-of-19 from the field. He also added two assists and seven rebounds.

Durant, on the other hand, finished the game with 15 points, four assists, and four rebounds.

Kevin Durant, at 35 years old, and Wembanyama, at 20, show the perspective of the young generation making their way to the top of the basketball world.

Wembaynama finished his first season with the Spurs, averaging 21.4 points and 10.6 rebounds per game, ultimately taking home the NBA Rookie of the Year award.

While he was unable to defeat his childhood favorite player in Durant, he'll have another opportunity during the 2024-25 NBA season when the Spurs face off against the Suns.
