Caleb Williams is among the best college football quarterbacks the nation has ever seen. Williams made his mark on the national stage when he was inserted into the Red River Rivalry game with his team trailing 28-7.

Williams engineered a remarkable turnaround for the Oklahoma Sooners and went on to start for the remainder of the season. However, he followed his head coach, Lincoln Riley, who left for the USC Trojans after the season.

In his first season with the team, Williams experienced great success. He threw for over 4,500 yards and scored 42 touchdowns, and the Trojans achieved an 11-3 record. Williams also won the Heisman that year. However, despite throwing for 3,633 yards and 30 touchdowns in his second season, the team didn't perform as well, with USC finishing at 8-5.

The Chicago Bears drafted Williams as the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL draft. Although USC is losing his talent, Josh Pate suggests they might not be unhappy to see him go, as he has heard claims that Williams was a "headache" behind the scenes.

"They'll tell you that he was sort of a headache to deal with behind the scenes to the point where it's not that you breathe a sigh of relief that the talent walked out the door but what comes with the talent walking out the door," Pate said.

Miller Moss is the top candidate to replace Williams this season for USC. Moss started the bowl game and threw for 372 yards, six touchdowns and only one interception with a 69.7% completion rate. Pate stated that USC is no longer losing sleep over the quarterback position.
