Week Two of the NFL preseason brings a critical matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Buffalo Bills . After a disappointing 20-12 loss to the Houston Texans , Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is looking for a more polished effort from his team, particularly on the offensive side of the ball.

This game, now the most significant of the shortened preseason, will offer the closest preview of what the regular season could look like for Pittsburgh.

One of the key offensive storylines for the Steelers is the emergence of rookie center Zach Frazier . Although Frazier has long been expected to start in Week 1 against the Atlanta Falcons, first-team reps have been hard to come by during training camp.

The Steelers, known for making their rookies earn playing time, have been deliberate in managing Frazier’s workload. However, an injury to starting center Nate Herbig has opened the door for Frazier to see more action with the first team, as noted by Steelers Depot.

Frazier’s performance in last week’s game against the Texans was solid, particularly in the run game, where he avoided the fumbles that plagued the Herbig- Justin Fields exchange. With Herbig’s status uncertain, Frazier appears to be on track to solidify his role as a Day 1 starter for the regular season.

The quarterback situation is another area of focus for the Steelers. Last week, Justin Fields showed flashes of potential, completing 5 of 6 passes, but he also struggled with two sacks and two fumbled exchanges. Russell Wilson , who did not play against the Texans, has been listed as the No. 1 quarterback on the team’s unofficial depth chart, a ranking confirmed by Tomlin.

Wilson is expected to start against the Bills, giving him a chance to demonstrate his readiness for the regular season.

Coach Tomlin emphasized the importance of improving efficiency and stability in the passing game, particularly as the team faces a tough Bills defense. With both quarterbacks looking to make their mark, this game will be a crucial test for Pittsburgh’s offensive line and overall offensive strategy.

As the Steelers take the field against the Bills, Frazier's and the quarterbacks' performances will be closely watched, providing a clearer picture of how the team’s offense will shape up for the regular season.
