There was plenty of buzz surrounding Team USA ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics, thanks to the cumulation of stars they had on their roster.

Many were heralding this men's team as the best international squad we have ever seen, with notable names like LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Joel Embiid, and Steph Curry all electing to suit up for the Stars and Stripes. For both James and Durant, the Olympic stage isn't anything they haven't seen before, as they each had three medals apiece coming into Paris. However, both Embiid and Curry were making their Olympic debut, and for Curry, he didn't get off to the hottest of starts.

Through the first four games, Curry averaged just 7.3 points per game and made just five threes combined. It was a storyline that went relatively unnoticed through the first four games, as Team USA won by an average of 24 points through the group stage and qualifying round. You'd love for all your stars to just hit the ground running, but Team USA was able to get the production from elsewhere in those early games.

Some may argue that the Golden State Warriors star was struggling with the physicality that is allowed in FIBA play, the three-point line being closer, or simply just getting used to playing with a group of players he had only played with for a couple of weeks. All of those things could have played a possible factor, but a recent report may have revealed the true reason behind his cold start in Paris.

According to a post by Clutch Points that now has over 700,000 views , Curry saw a significant jump in his production when his wife, Ayesha, made her way to Paris. Maybe the four-time NBA champ simply needed a familiar face in his corner.

In the final two games of the tournament, which happened to be the most important, Curry averaged 30 points and made 17 threes combined. His performance alone was the main reason that Team USA was able to overcome a near 20-point deficit against Serbia, and his barrage of threes against France led to French announcers referring to him as the "devil".

Had the voting for Olympic MVP been after the final game and not before, Curry likely would have a compelling case for MVP instead of James. Regardless, Team USA was able to bring home their fifth gold medal in a row, and if this was an Olympic swan song for Curry, James and Durant they went out in the best way possible: on top.
