Detroit Pistons Legend Isiah Thomas Releases His 'GOAT' Of The NBA

Detroit Pistons legend Isiah Thomas shared his bold opinion on the “goat” debate in the NBA , and he didn't mix words when talking about the greatest of all-time in his eyes, LeBron James.

“I think when you look at, like I say, [LeBron’s] leads in almost every statistical category. He passed Kareem in scoring. I think he’s got the most playoff points. Not only that, when you look at the assist column, I know where I stand on the assist record. I think he’s passed me; I think he’s passed Magic on the assist record.” Thomas said.

Thomas was a prime competitor and rival of Michael Jordan throughout the 1990s. He saw firsthand what Jordan brought to the table as a player on the basketball court and many consider Jordan  the greatest of all time. But not Isiah.

Thomas later added, “So when you talk about passing, scoring, and rebounding, we’ve never had a player in the NBA that has touched every statistical category and led in some of these statistical categories that we’re talking about. There’s never been another player like him. Now, everyone has their favorites, but if the numbers don’t lie, the numbers don’t lie. And he definitely passes the eye test. So to me, he’s the best that I’ve ever seen from a team standpoint and also as a basketball player.”

After spending 13 years in the NBA for the Pistons, Thomas was an all-star in 12 of his 13 seasons. He is a first-ballot hall-of-famer and one of the greatest point guards of all time.

Thomas led the Pistons to consecutive championships in 1989 and 1990 and was the undisputed leader and floor general of the “Bad Boy” Pistons, which were an iconic team in the early 1990’s.

His opinion carries a lot of weight. He has experienced the game from a player and viewer standpoint amongst different generations of the game, and Thomas made it very clear that LeBron James is the greatest basketball player he has ever seen.
