The Philadelphia Phillies (71-50) looked like a completely different team on Thursday than the one that we have seen for the better part of a month. After jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning, the Phillies won game one 13-3 over the Washington Nationals (55-67).

    Batting Around, Twice!

The Phillies batted around twice on Thursday, in the first and fourth innings.

In the first inning, the Phillies had back-to-back home runs from Alec Bohm and Nick Castellanos . They would accrue three more hits, all singles, and draw one walk, and score four runs.

The fourth inning would start with a triple, a single, a single, a double, and a single. Five runs would score in the inning, and Weston Wilson would get two hits, the leadoff triple and a single later in the innings. The Phillies would drive Nationals starter Mitchell Parker from the game before he would record an out in the fourth.

    Notable Stats

    • Bohm extended his on-base streak to 32 games. His is the longest active streak in MLB and is the longest on-base streak by a Phillies infielder since Chase Utley 's 35-game streak in 2006.
    • The Phillies batted 7-for-14 with RISP on Thursday, something we have not seen from the club for the better part of a month.
    • Everybody hits! Every batter that started the game in the lineup for the Phillies got at least one hit.
    • Weston Wilson made history Thursday night, hitting for the 10th cycle in Phillies history

    WPA Leader of the Night

After putting the Phillies ahead 3-0 in the first inning, Alec Bohm is Thursday's WPA leader of the game. Bohm's final line would read 1-for-4 with a home run and three RBI, and he would finish the night with a WPA score of 20.7.

    Next Up

Next up for the Phillies is game two of this three-game set with the Nationals on Friday. The first pitch for Friday's game is scheduled for 6:40 PM EST. The game will be broadcast on NBC 10 and MASN 2.

Phillies fans can listen to the game on 94 WIP or WTTM 1680.
