Las Vegas Raiders coach Antonio Pierce will enter the 2024 NFL season with a renewed sense of purpose as he seeks to steer the franchise back to prominence.

Pierce was named interim coach of the Raiders in the middle of last season after Josh McDaniels was fired. Now, with a full training camp under his watch, he can firmly implement his vision.

Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams explained why it's "easy to get behind" a guy like Pierce.

“AP is the right coach for any team,” Adams said in a report from Andscape's Jason Reid . “He is real. He’s understanding.

"He’s very realistic (about the difficulties of the game), but he also upholds and maintains the standard of ball that he believes in and that we all believe in."

The 45-year-old Pierce, who won a Super Bowl as a linebacker for the New York Giants, brings a player-first mentality to coaching. Adams stressed how important that is for them.

"It’s just real, real easy to follow a guy (who) understands the big picture and has the same mindset we have as players," the three-time All-Pro First Team member added.

Pierce, known for his defensive acumen, tallied a 5-4 record as the interim coach last season. Overall, the Raiders finished with an 8-9 slate and missed the playoffs for the second straight year.

With the backing of the Raiders' front office and a fanbase hungry for success, Pierce’s first full season at the helm is filled with high expectations.

“It’s not always picture-perfect," Pierce said in Reid's report. "Sometimes, things don’t go the way you think they’re going to go, and some things are just out of your control.

“The one thing that I could control is the effort. That’s something that you can do each day."
