'I Want to Be Here': Jalen Brunson on Signing Extension

The New York Knicks have made a number of big moves this offseason, and one of them was extending star point guard Jalen Brunson. Not only did they extend him, but they saved millions doing it.

On a recent episode of his podcast with teammate Josh Hart, Brunson talked a bit about why he made the decision to sign this offseason instead of next offseason, when he could have made $113 million more.

"It’s kinda simple. I want to be here. I want to show that actions speak louder than just talking about stuff," Brunson said. "I want this team to be together for a long time. I want to win here. That’s it."

If he had waited until next offseason to sign his contract extension, he would have made a lot more money, but instead, he decided to sign now so the team could make more moves. Considering how good Brunson was this past season, it is fair to say the Knicks got a steal.

The star point guard averaged just under 29 points per game this past season, and he did so on some fantastic shooting percentages, both from the field and from three. He also chipped in just under seven assist, four rebounds, and a steal per game.

If Brunson can build on last season and help the team contend for a championship this season, the fans in New York could love him more than they already do.
