Los Angeles Lakers rookie Bronny James continues to be a lightning rod among NBA fans.

When 2K revealed on Friday that James’ player rating was a 68 overall for the upcoming “NBA 2K25” video game, many took to social media to voice their issues with the 19-year-old being ranked so high.

Some believe James’ poor NBA Sumer League showing — he averaged six points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game. He shot 32.7% from the field and just 13% from 3-point range — should have factored into his rating.

James made an underwhelming impression in the handful of games he played.

Others expressed their belief that 2K only rated James as high as it did because of his father, LeBron James, who many believe convinced the Lakers to draft his son in one of the more obvious cases of nepotism in recent memory.

While it seems no one can agree on what a realistic player rating is for Bronny, most can agree the Lakes are making the right decision having the rookie point guard start his career in the G League.
