A ‘Heavy-Hitting’ Candidate To Buy the Celtics Has Been Ruled Out

The news of the Boston Celtics going up for sale is almost two months old but the search for a new buyer continues.

The list of candidates has included names such as Tom Brady and Jeff Bezos but none of them have decided to move on the idea so far.

Another name that has been floated around as a potential buyer for the Celtics is UFC President Dana White.

An article from The Takedown written by Justin Barrasso included quotes made by White on the subject.

“Watching the team, I love every minute of it,” said White. “They’ve been a championship team for years now, and it was incredible watching them win it all this year. I’m really happy for them–[owner] Wyc [Grousbeck], Mazzulla, and everyone involved. It was a great season.”

White did shoot the idea down, however, for the time being at least.

“I don’t have the bandwidth right now to take on something like that,” said White. “Everybody scoffs and laughs at it, but Power Slap is an absolute beast right now. It’s kicking ass for us, and I’m super focused on that. Me and the Fertittas own Slap and Thrill One, so we’re focused on that, too.

“If I was involved in any way, shape, or form with the Celtics, I would want to be a big part of it and really dive in. But I just don’t have the time.”

White does not appear ready to put an end to the team's search for a buyer at the moment but never say never.
