Jets' Garrett Wilson Hails 'Pure Football!' With Aaron Rodgers

    By Adam Schultz,

    2024-08-16

New York Jets receiver Garrett Wilson is loving life with Aaron Rodgers throwing him the football in training camp. After missing Rodgers for the best part of the full year last season, the pair is now reunited and has hit the ground running.

The connection between the two was evident last preseason when they connected for a touchdown against the New York Giants, but Rodgers injured his Achilles in Week 1 and that was the end of it.

But now, with Rodgers back healthy and dropping dimes consistently in practice, Wilson has revealed what he loves about having Rodgers orchestrate the offense.

"When you've got him in front of you, you're like, 'This dude can throw anything, he can throw it anywhere,'" Wilson said . "It's just like for me, it feels like pure football. It feels like I'm a kid again and I can kind of believe what I see. It's the best way to put it for me. With Aaron, everything's you can do it. And that's how football should be played, when you can do it. So it's exciting for me and for all the receivers in the room, the tight ends, we all feel like we can really just go out there and play and trust our eyes, we don't have to overthink anything."

With Wilson posting back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons with what could be described as below-par quarterback play, the consensus is that with Rodgers, Garrett is set to explode in 2024.

Of course, we all thought that last season as well before hopes came crashing down, but if everything stays as it should health-wise, then Wilson should have a career-best season.

With Wilson loving what Rodgers is doing leading the offense, the Jets feel like a team that could make some serious noise in the AFC East and the playoffs if things fall their way.

Rodgers will be a big reason why, but so will Wilson. If the pair can continue on the trajectory set in preseason, then good luck stopping them from putting up yards and points for fun.
