Another national media network has released its preseason college football rankings.

Pro Football Focus (PFF) isn't as high on Texas as other networks. It could have something to do with the Longhorns losing two scholarship running backs for the season due to injury this month, including starter CJ Baxter, but Texas is still expected to contend for a national title.

PFF places the Longhorns at No. 5 overall behind Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon and Ole Miss. While Texas and Oregon typically flip-flop between No. 3 and No. 4 in most rankings, the surprise is seeing the Rebels over the Longhorns in PFF's ranking.

Several opponents that Texas will play in 2024 made PFF's ranking. Georgia (No. 1), Michigan (No. 8), and Oklahoma (No. 18) will each face off against the Longhorns this season.

Texas enters 2024 with a Heisman Trophy contender behind center, an experienced offensive line, and several immediate impact newcomers via the transfer portal. Not to mention, fourth-year head coach Steve Sarkisian is one of the top offensive minds in the game.

Thanks to a deep roster and favorable schedule, the Longhorns should at the very least compete for an SEC Championship in 2024.
