Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever started the second half of the season on a high note, knocking off the Phoenix Mercury at home.

The Fever defeated the Mercury, 98-89, following an inspired performance from their star rookie. Clark finished the game with 29 points, 10 assists, and five rebounds. She had a great game in the efficiency category, shooting 50% from the field at 8-of-16.

Following the game, Clark spoke on the Fever's return to WNBA action action after the Olympic break.

Indiana's last game was on Jul. 17, so players across the league have to adjust to game form.

Clark mentioned feeling fatigued during the matchup against the Mercury, which forced her to call head coach Christie Sides to sub her out of the game.

"I called for a sub six minutes in, if I’m being honest," Clark said. "I was like, holy cow… I was like, I need a quick minute here (laughing) because we were playing fast, and then my defense isn’t as good.”

Despite the fatigue, Clark had one of her best games at the WNBA level. She was efficient in the shooting realm and still served as the Fever's primary playmaker.

Before the matchup, Clark was averaging 17.1 points and 8.2 assists per game, leading the league in average assists.

Before the matchup, Clark was averaging 17.1 points and 8.2 assists per game, leading the league in average assists.

She was the most versatile player on the floor and was able to help push the Fever toward a victory in their first game back from the break. They'll look to feed off the victory against the Mercury for a chance at a winning streak on Sunday when they face the Seattle Storm at 3:30 p.m. ET.
