Will Commanders' Ben Sinnott Impress Again vs. Dolphins?

    By Adam Schultz,

The Washington Commanders are in the thick of their roster evaluation, and when tight end Ben Sinnott 's name comes across Dan Quinn's desk, a big smile must sweep over the face of the head coach.

After Sinnott's impressive "debut" against the New York Jets in Washington's first preseason game, which saw him total three receptions for 57 yards (41 of them after the catch), the Commanders can feel good about their tight end room.

But while Sinnott has one impressive outing in the bank, the biggest thing that coaches look for in rookies is their ability to be consistent. There is no point in Sinnott posting a 3-rec, 57-yard game one week and having two catches for 15 yards the next.

Sinnott will face that challenge against the Miami Dolphins in the Commanders' second preseason game.

Likely to again get ample opportunities to flash, Sinnott must again show that he is worthy of a spot on Kliff Kingsbury's offense with a stirring showing against Miami.

With his run after the catch ability on full display last week, Sinnott has now caught the attention of the Commanders' coaching staff, and he will be looking to put an exclamation mark on his preseason efforts.

The tight end room is delicately poised with Zach Ertz, Sinnott, Cole Turner, and John Bates making up Jayden Daniels' group of safety blankets, but in an ideal world, it will be Sinnott who separates himself from the pack.

And he can do it with an impressive outing against the Dolphins.

Opportunity is knocking on Sinnott's door. Will he be able to take advantage of it and walk through it? We're about to find out.
