Matt Corral, a 2022 third-round draft pick by the Carolina Panthers, is making a return to the NFL by joining the Minnesota Vikings. Corral, who has yet to appear in an official NFL game, was initially drafted by the Panthers but suffered an injury before his rookie season began, leading to him being placed on injured reserve. After being waived by Carolina in 2023, Corral spent time with the New England Patriots' practice squad before finding success in the United Football League (UFL) with the Birmingham Stallions, where he played a key role in securing a league championship.

Now, at just 25 years old, Corral joins the Vikings as they grapple with their quarterback situation following J.J. McCarthy’s season-ending meniscus surgery. With McCarthy out, Sam Darnold steps in as the clear starter, backed by Nick Mullens and Jaren Hall. Corral’s arrival gives head coach Kevin O’Connell another option, though it remains to be seen whether Corral will make the final roster or serve primarily as an additional arm during training camp.

Despite his early setbacks, Corral's potential remains, and under the guidance of a coach known for his quarterback expertise, he could find a new opportunity to reignite his NFL career in Minnesota.
