The Boston Red Sox (64-57) have been in a slump since the beginning of the second half of the season. While they did win on Friday night, and had one of their key players return from the injured list, they have gone only 11-15 since the break.

The Red Sox have a few of their other key players on the injured list currently. How many of them are expected to return this season?

    10/15-Day Injured List

    OF Tyler O'Neill

O'Neill (left leg infection) was in the hospital for several days as doctors treated him for an infection in his leg. O'Neill resumed baseball activities on August 14th, and the Red Sox expect to activate him on Saturday.

    RHP Justin Slaten

Slaten (5-2, 3.38 ERA; right elbow inflammation) threw a bullpen session on August 16th. The club expects Slaten to throw one more bullpen session before going on a rehab assignment. He is expected to return by the end of August or the first week of September.

    LHP Cam Booser

Booser (2-2, 3.00 ERA; left elbow inflammation) said that he was experiencing discomfort in his elbow after an outing on August 13th. It is unclear at this time if Booser will return this season.

    LHP James Paxton

Paxton (9-3, 4.40 ERA; partially torn right calf) left his start on August 11th after only two outs. An MRI would reveal a partially torn right calf. It is unlikely that Paxton will return this season.

    60-Day Injured List

    RHP Liam Hendriks

Hendriks (right UCL surgery) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on August 18th. He will make six to eight rehab appearances before being activated in September.

    SS Trevor Story

Story (dislocated left shoulder) took batting practice on the field at Fenway Park on August 12th. This is a big step in his recovery, and further increases the likelihood of a return this season.
