Robert Griffin III's Latest Post Has Fans Questioning ESPN

    By Chris Licata,

Robert Griffin III has not been shy on social media following his firing from ESPN on Thursday, August 15.

The 34-year-old football analyst took to X on Saturday with another message that some fans are speculating could be (another?) subtle shot fired at ESPN.

"Nothing in this world is worth selling your soul for," Griffin wrote on Saturday.

The 10-word message came one day after posting "When one door closes, another one opens. Trust God on your journey," a similar sentiment to the one posted by his wife hours after his firing . On Thursday, Griffin did publicly acknowledge his time at ESPN to his 2.2 million followers, too.

Still, fans online couldn't help but connect the dots between Griffin's latest words and the four-letter network.

"ESPN was pushing an agenda?" one commenter asked .

Another asked , "Is that a stray to ESPN?"

"ESPN Diss Track on-deck," added another.

"Is this concerning ESPN?" one fan wrote .

"Spill the tea RGIII" urged another.

According to The Athletic's Andrew Marchand, Griffin's "seven-figure-per-year salary will be honored" despite ESPN cutting off the final two years on his deal, originally signed in 2021. The former Pro Bowl NFL quarterback drew interest from FOX prior to choosing ESPN.

Samantha Ponder was also part of ESPN's "cost-cutting moves" on Thursday, per Marchand.
