The Buffalo Bills have invested in the wide receiver position this offseason well after the trade that sent Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans.

Keon Coleman was drafted in the second round, Curtis Samuel was signed in free agency, and even the likes of Marques Valdes-Scantling was added for depth purposes.

There's an additional player in the Bills' receiving room returning that has taken fire of sorts early in camp.

    Former fifth-round pick Khalil Shakir.

Shakir is entering his third NFL season and coming off a respectable 611-yard receiving last year. With more of a need on the receiving end, Shakir is expected to play a key role on the Bills in 2024.

He's been up to the task in that regard so far.

Shakir dominated joint practice work for the Bills against the Pittsburgh Steelers and is expected to see time in Saturday night's preseason contest in Pittsburgh.

It's hard to figure out the expectations for Shakir that are fair due to his just 6-0, 190-pound frame. On one hand, his speed could be the kind of thing the Bills use consistently this season, but he needs to be stronger to be a quality starting wide receiver.

So far, though, it seems that the Bills have to be thrilled with how Shakir has looked.
