Khalil Shakir may not have been Josh Allen's top offensive target in 2023, but the third-year receiver might just be that this season for the Buffalo Bills.

Shakir is coming off a 611-yard season - almost 500 more than his rookie season as a fifth-round pick. Making matters even more impressive is the fact that the Bills were able to see Shakir dominate at a level few others players on the roster did last year - yes, including All-Pro Stefon Diggs.

Franchise quarterback Josh Allen spoke on former edge rusher Chris Long's podcast to explain more.

“He’s got, like, the best catch percentage [last season]," Allen said. "You watch anything that he does when he doesn’t even have the ball, he’s flying to the ball, he’s making an extra block, he’s following it just in case someone fumbles. He’s running the influence to get someone open behind him. He does things the right way, and he’s so fun to throw to."

Pro Football Focus stated Shakir had the best catch percentage of any receiver in the NFL last year. Without Diggs on the roster, Allen will need to rely on Shakir even more than he did in 2023.

Early on, Shakir looks up to the task.
