Daniel Jones vs. Texans: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

That four-year, $160 million contract the New York Giants gave QB Daniel Jones? Management has "no regrets,'' it swears.

Management's response to Jones' work in Saturday's Preseason Week 2 game against the Houston Texans?

We bet the front office is "swearing,'' alright.

As we write this, Jones' day is done, and the numbers are as ugly as a couple of the actual plays themselves.

Jones finished 11 of 18 for 138 yards passing; that doesn't seem so embarrassing. But ...

Well, here's "Daniel Jones' Preseason Day vs. Texans: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly'' ...

The Good: Hey, he's a $40 million QB (the contract says it is so, whether you like it or not!) and he is coming off a torn ACL. He said recently that he's healthy enough to play and that's been proven right.

The Bad: But "healthy enough to play'' doesn't mean that the former first-rounder is good enough to win. He did lead the team to a pair of scoring drives in the second quarter as the Giants managed a TD and a field goal.

But if you didn't have a name or a number on the jersey, you would not have come away wowed by this work.

The Ugly: Jones tossed two interceptions, one of them for a pick-6 of the most humiliating sort: A bad decision, a bad throw, a bad everything. To wit ...

The second interception? Derek Stingley makes a play on a mediocre decision/throw; it happens.

The first interception? That cannot happen. ... and it's the sort of play that has some Giants fans fearing that Jones regret is inevitable.
