A rare Saturday afternoon matchup at NRG resulted in consecutive preseason victories for the Houston Texans. C.J. Stroud was proficient in distributing the football to a variety of offensive weapons in his only action of the day, lasting a mere 15 minutes. In the first quarter, five of Stroud's eight completions were to the likes of the forgotten tight ends, Dalton Shultz and Brevin Jordan.

It appears the only thing that can slow down the Texans offense is the head strong insistence in handing the ball to Dameon Pierce who once again failed to make anything happen. A meager five yards on four rushing attempts. In contrast, Cam Akers ran for an average of 4.8 yards per attempt.

Other encouraging signs saw key offensive line starters return, including tackle Tytus Howard, while John Metchie who had been largely an enigma this August, hauled in the Texans second score of the day.

Giants' offensive coordinator Mike Kafka will need to reevaluate the decision to test Derrick Stingley Jr with regularity in the opening frame. Stingley had a pick, and very well could've had two int's for the day. Stingley's running mate in the secondary, Jalen Pitre started the day's scoring, easily grabbing an ill-conceived attempt from Daniel Jones.

Jones was returning to action for the first time since November 5th and failed to resemble a 6-year pro for much of the day. Jones' best play came on a 44-yard pass completion to Darius Slayton who simply overmatched Mike Ford Jr. That reception would eventually set up a rushing touchdown by former Texans RB, Devin Singletary.

British Brooks made the most of his opportunities with a couple of touchdown runs.

The Giants final three possessions all ended with fumbles. Neville Hewitt had a nice forced fumble and recovery. Malik Fisher and Lonnie Johnson Jr. also had fumble recoveries in the 4th quarter.

As Giants broadcaster Howard Cross told us earlier in the week, Jones pulled the entire first half of reps. The Giants have found something special in WR, Malik Nabers who showed no side effects from a mild sprain during the week. Nabers finished the opening half with four receptions for 54 yards.

Up next for the Texans is their pre-season finale, once again a Noon Saturday kick @ NRG verses the Rams.
