Eric Mangini Shreds Jets, Aaron Rodgers for...Reasons

Aaron Rodgers has been in attendance of every training camp practice for the New York Jets - closing the book officially on his mandatory minicamp absence.

That's still not enough for some people, though.

Eric Mangini, New York's former head coach, hasn't been pleased with Rodgers despite his strong play in camp. The reason for his frustration?

The fact that Rodgers is not playing in the preseason.

“The thing that you’re talking about is the greater good, and he doesn’t care. He doesn’t care about the other 10 guys,” Mangini stated on First Things First. “He cares about himself. And with Tom Brady, Tom was coachable. Tom wanted to be coached, and even though Tom was the greatest at that position, he was open to ideas that could make him better. But for Aaron, he’s just going to do whatever he wants to do, whatever is best for him – you other 10 guys, it’s not good for you, not good for the coaching staff, not good for anybody else. It doesn’t matter because it’s just about him.”

Now, to the normal unbiased eye, this odd rant from Mangini comes at a very questionable time on a very questionable topic.

For starters - Brady, much like Rodgers, did not play in every preseason contest the Patriots faced in every year. When Brady did sit, it wasn't considered a selfish thing because, like normal people understood, it's more important for the franchise quarterback to be healthy at the start of the season than anything else.

Rodgers and the Jets coaching staff officially coming together to create a preseason and camp plan is not uncommon. He's 40 years old and is a former four-time NFL MVP.

So why exactly is him sitting out of preseason games "selfish" to the point where it got Mangini complaining for a full segment?

The reality is it isn't. And the former head coach shows how little he is plugged into the organization he used to coach.

That won't stop him from complaining about everything, though! Because, there has to be something to complain about when it comes to Rodgers dammit!
