Vikings Defeat Browns 27-12 as Turnovers Prove Costly

The Cleveland Browns will head into their preseason finale against the Seattle Seahawks, still searching for their first win. After falling 27-12 to the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday.

The Browns' start to the second half looked similar to the one they had in the first half. Following the opening kickoff, veteran backup Tyler Huntley led the Browns' offense down to the Minnesota 11-yard line. However, things went wrong, as an errant pass from Huntley was intercepted and returned 90 yards by Dwight McGlothern.

After having a potential pick-six negated by Huntley, who sprinted in pursuit of McGlothern, the Vikings offense would finish with points as Jaren Hall hit Malik Knowles for a one-yard touchdown.

After being on the wrong side of a tipped ball earlier, the Browns picked up a third-and-two as Huntley's pass was tipped into the air before being caught by Jaelon Darden . The circus-like catch saw the Browns keep their drive alive and pick up 16 yards in the process.

The Browns capped off the drive with a 33-yard field goal from Cade York, pulling them within 10 points, 20-10.

Following two consecutive punts, the Vikings offense caught fire again. Hall found Jeshaun Jones for a big 71-yard touchdown strike, extending Minnesota's lead to 17 points.

After failing to score points on each of their next two drives, the Browns' defense trimmed the deficit. A third-down strip-sack by Chris Williams on Matt Corrall saw the ball roll out the back of the endzone.

The Browns recovered a fumble on the ensuing kickoff to give their offense another chance. However, after their 36-yard line, Huntley tossed his second interception, ending any hope of a miraculous last-minute comeback. Making it three turnovers for the Browns, all of which were interceptions.

The Browns will return to action next Saturday when they travel to Lumen Field to take on the Seahawks. It will also be the preseason debut of starting quarterback Deshaun Watson, who will look to lead the Browns to their first preseason win. Kickoff is scheduled for 10 p.m. EST inside Lumen Field.
