BREAKING: Steelers RB Warren 'Doubtful' to Return vs. Bills Following Injury

    By Harrison Reno,

It has been a slow start to the Pittsburgh Steelers ' second preseason game of the year. They are locked in a scoreless defensive slugfest with the Buffalo Bills so far. However, while the Steelers' offense is expected to play the duration of the first half, they will do so without running back Jaylen Warren .

After just one carry for a yard, the former undrafted free agent signing exited the game with a hamstring injury. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter , Warren is now "doubtful" to return to action versus the Bills.

Considering the two-headed-monster he is expected to form with Najee Harris this coming season, losing the 25-year-old to injury would be a big blow to the Steelers offense.

As a rookie in 2022, Warren only carried the ball 77 times before nearly doubling that number to 149 last season.

Despite never recording a start last season as Warren played behind Harris, he totaled 784 yards rushing with four touchdowns while also compiling 370 yards as a receiver. Warren amassed 1,154 yards from scrimmage, which more than doubled from the previous season.

While no official word has been given on the potential severity of Warren's injury, it seems likely that his not returning to action would be more of a precaution than an indication of a serious injury.
