The Buffalo Bills notched a 9-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday in their second preseason game, but the win was overshadowed by a series of injuries that could have lasting implications as the regular season approaches.

Starting quarterback Josh Allen was held out of the game, leaving Mitchell Trubisky to take the reins. However, Trubisky’s night was cut short when he exited in the second quarter with a knee injury. Trubisky’s status remains uncertain, adding to the Bills' growing list of concerns.

The injury woes didn’t stop there. Wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling , who has been battling for a roster spot during training camp, suffered a neck injury. This setback could hinder his chances of securing a place on the final 53-man roster, especially given his recent struggles to make an impact.

Defensive tackle Austin Johnson also left the game with a calf injury. Johnson, signed in March to bolster the Bills’ defensive line, has been working his way back from a serious knee injury suffered in 2022. His availability is crucial for the team’s depth in the trenches, and this latest injury could complicate his path to contributing this season.

Tight end Quintin Morris , already in a tight competition for a backup role behind Dawson Knox, sustained a shoulder injury. This injury could further diminish his chances of making the roster, as other players in the position group look to capitalize on his absence.

Rookie defensive end Javon Solomon , who has shown promise in his first NFL preseason, also left the game with a calf injury. Solomon’s development has been a bright spot for the Bills, and any prolonged absence could stall his progress as the team evaluates its defensive line depth.

As the Bills prepare for their final preseason game, these injuries are a reminder of how quickly depth can be tested in the NFL . The team will need to assess the severity of each injury and adjust accordingly as they gear up for the regular season.
