The St. Louis Cardinals have set themselves with a rubber match against the Los Angeles Dodgers after winning on Saturday to even up the series. The team had a phenomenal pitching performance for Andre Pallante and three homers helped lift the team to snap a five game losing streak. They will look for their staff ace to continue the momentum on Sunday and clinch their second series win in the month of August.

Sunday, August 18th: Sonny Gray vs. Clayton Kershaw

The Cardinals will go with staff ace Sonny Gray (11-7, 3.93) on the mound for the series finale. Gray had another rough start the last time he was on the mound against the Cincinnati Reds as he allowed six runs in five innings of work. Some of his poor numbers were due to bad luck, but the biggest issue was allowing three home runs. There was a silver lining, however, as Gray picked up nine strikeouts in the outing.

The Dodgers will also go with a veteran as Clayton Kershaw (1-2, 3.50 ERA) will make the start against the Cardinals. Kershaw will be making his fifth start of the season after recently returning from the injured list. In his last outing, he allowed one run across 5.2 innings of work on his way to a win against the Minnesota Twins. He has a 1.74 ERA so far in the month of August.
