Will Jets Lose Depth Kicker to Final Cutdowns?

The New York Jets have wonderful problems to have. They own a roster so deep and talented that some very strong players could be on the chopping block in the coming weeks.

One position group of emphasis is actually at kicker.

Greg Zuerlein is coming off an impressive season where he missed just three total field goals the entire year and hit the second-most field goal makes of his career.

With Zuerlein's position unchallenged of sorts entering the 2024 season, New York's second kicker is expected to be on the chopping block in the coming weeks.

Not before Austin Seibert has anything to say about it, though.

Seibert has never had a season-long field goal percentage over 86% in his five-year NFL career. With New York, though, the former Brown has looked the part of a quality kicker at the league level.

During the 2024 preseason, Seibert has made all five field goal tries he's attempted to this point in New York and has shown to be a quality player other teams could rely on.

Due to Zuerlein being on the roster, it's pretty obvious that Seibert won't be on the roster in the coming weeks. His strong play will make him a quick fix for many teams like Washington, but it could hurt the overall depth of the special teams roster as well.
