'Double Secret Probation!' Commanders' Dan Quinn Jokes About Jayden Daniels

The Washington Commanders dropped their second preseason game Saturday night to the Miami Dolphins 13-6. During the first half of the game, rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels took what looked like a design run to the right side.

Instead of sliding after he got the first down, or running out of bounds, the rookie ran into oncoming defenders to pick up extra yards. As Daniels got up and turned around, coach Dan Quinn was right there, pointing to the ground screaming “get down” to his rookie signal-caller.

The last thing the Commanders needs is for Daniels to take an ill-advised shot and lose him to an injury. Following the game, coach Quinn joked about the play and Daniels’ being in trouble.

“Double secret probation,” Quinn joked after the game. “I thought he had another really good outing, honestly. I don’t know passing-wise what it was, but the accuracy, decision-making of where to go, he really is a unique competitor. And uh, so, but yes, he was definitely in trouble again with the head coach.”

To be exact, Daniels was 10-of-12 for 78 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions. He ran the ball twice for 13 yards and would be finished for the night following that drive.

Whether Daniels will play next week or not is still up in the air as the Commanders wrap up their preseason schedule at home against the New England Patriots.
