Wemby’s French Teammate Returns to NBA

After six years away from the NBA, Guerschon Yabusele returns to the best league in the world. The French forward emerged from the Paris Olympics as one of the standouts, averaging 14 points throughout the silver-medal run. Starting his NBA career with the Boston Celtics in 2018, Victor Wembanyama's Olympic teammate returns to the Eastern Conference at 28.

The Philadelphia 76ers had one of the best offseasons, rivaling that of the Celtics and New York Knicks. Philadelphia's president of basketball operations, Daryl Morey, succeeded by recruiting the top 2024 free agent, Paul George.

Considering Joel Embiid's odd rivalry with France despite sharing dual citizenship with the U.S. and the 2024 Olympics host, Philadelphia's latest free agent signing makes for an interesting locker-room dynamic. According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski , Yabusele has agreed on a one-year, $2.1 million minimum deal with the 76ers.

Yabusele is rejoining the NBA’s Eastern Conference after leaving the Boston Celtics for Real Madrid in 2019. The Sixers seek their first NBA Finals since Allen Iverson led the franchise to the well-documented 2001 NBA Finals

Yabusele's resurgence in the NBA universe via the 2024 Olympics makes for a great comeback story. Although helping France win its second consecutive Olympic silver medal is a significant contribution, Yabusele's facial dunk on LeBron James is an all-time highlight.

Wembanyama will face his Olympic teammate on Mar. 21.
