Commanders Receiver Jahan Dotson On Thin Ice?

    By Wil Riggs,

Back in 2022, the Washington Commanders used the No. 16 overall pick to select receiver Jahan Dotson out of Penn State in the first round. Over the past two seasons Dotson hasn’t lived up to being selected that high and has only posted 523 and 518 yards the last two seasons.

Receivers Dyami Brown and Olamide Zaccheaus have impressed in camp and in the preseason and their performance has been pushing Dotson down the depth chart.

Dotson has even acknowledged he isn’t where he wants to be.

“Yeah, I am trying to show what I can do every single day,” Dotson said. “Just be better than I was yesterday. I’m trying to grow every single day that I come out here. Trying to find something to get better at every single day.”

On Saturday against the Miami Dolphins, he had just one catch for three yards in the 13-6 loss. Dotson’s day was indicative of how his tenure under the new Commanders regime has gone, and he knows his position is at stake.

“DQ didn’t draft me,” said Dotson. “Each and every year … in your profession, you got to prove yourself. You got to prove what you’re worth and what you’re capable of doing. That’s what I’m trying to do.”

With one preseason game left next Saturday, Dotson has got to show something or he just may be relegated to backup duty, or even the bargain bin trade market.
