Commanders' Jayden Daniels Continues To Shine in Preseason

    By Adam Schultz,

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels is picking up this NFL thing rather quickly. After a good outing against the New York Jets in the Commanders' first preseason game against the Jets, Daniels got the ball first against the Miami Dolphins.

And he picked up exactly where he left off.

On the Commanders' first drive, Daniels would complete five of his seven passes for 46 yards as he drove his team down the field.

But perhaps the shining light was that Daniels was connecting with veteran receiver Terry McLaurin on the drive. "Scary Terry" would have two receptions for 27 yards on Washington's first drive, as the quarterback/receiver combination has gotten off to a hot start.

Daniels also found receiver Dyami Brown, who is fighting for a roster spot three times for 19 yards as the Commanders moved the chains with ease early on.

While the first drive stalled as the Dolphins brought pressure on third down, the Commanders' coaching staff would have to be happy with what they've seen from Daniels so far in preseason.

On Washington's second drive, Daniels had a 13-yard run to showcase his running talents. He looked completely comfortable in Kliff Kingsbury's offense, and while it's only preseason, its certainly encouraging.

His passes have come out on time, and the accuracy of his balls to his receivers has been a highlight for Daniels as he looks to take full advantage of his preseason reps.

With the regular season coming into view, Daniels getting these live NFL reps is crucial, and so far, he's making the most of them.

There is so much hope resting on Daniels' shoulders in 2024, and while it is only preseason, the former No. 2 overall pick looks as advertised under center.
