Bills Coach 'Very Impressed' by Rookie RB

Despite still not scoring a touchdown for the second straight week, the Buffalo Bills offense had some promising performances in their 9-3 preseason victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers. One of them came from rookie running back Ray Davis.

After a disappointing performance in his first preseason game against the Chicago Bears, totaling just two rushing yards on five attempts, Davis looked much stronger in the win against Pittsburgh. The rookie finished the game with 58 rushing yards on just eight attempts, averaging 7.3 yards-per-carry.

Fans were not the only ones to take notice of Davis's strong performance, either. Bills head coach Sean McDermott praised Davis in his press conference following the win.

“Very impressed,” McDermott said. “You could feel him. On TV, it was different. Offensive line was coming off the ball and Ray was making some big-time runs. They were physical. He was physical and almost looking for contact, squaring his pads up to the line of scrimmage. I respect that.”

This is not the first time that Davis has received positive feedback from his coaching staff, as the team was singing his praises throughout training camp. Now, after his recent performance, fans are able to see why the coaching staff has high hopes for the rookie.

Davis, a fourth-round selection from Kentucky, was slated to be the team's backup running back behind James Cook heading into the preseason. However, if he puts together another strong performance in the team's final preseason game, fans can likely expect Davis to get some substantial snaps in the regular-season.
