The Jaguars improved to 2-0 in the preseason with the 20-7 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This team looks to have more depth than we’ve seen from recent Jaguars squads and that has resulted in more complete game victories over the Chiefs and Bucs. Mac Jones looked great last night throwing a couple of touchdown passes and the Jags appear to have quality backups in other areas including running back, wide receiver and defensive line. The person responsible for this team is General Manager Trent Baalke.

He spoke during the game and gave his assessment of the team so far.

“So far, so good. We’re staying healthy, that’s the main thing.”, said Baalke.

On achieving what he wanted to get done in the offseason and through training camp

Trent: Well, we got a lot done. There are still things we’re working on. Like I’ve always said, the roster’s always a work in progress. We’re going to follow this game, taking a hard look at this game like we did last game. We’ve got some important decisions coming up.

On why it was important to re-sign QB Trevor Lawrence, DE Josh Hines-Allen and CB Tyson Campbell

Trent: We said from the get-go, from when we first got here, that signing the core players—that had to be our focus. We were fortunate enough to get some big deals done this summer with some guys that we believe are foundational pieces on both sides of the ball.

On if it sets the Jaguars up for future seasons

Trent: Well, it’s a positive step for the organization. You look at it and these guys want to be here. They want to be in this city, they want to be a part of this organization. We're going to continue to look for guys just like this.
