The Atlanta Braves seem to have angered the baseball gods.

Not only have they been the unluckiest team in all of baseball this season with regards to their offense, they have also dealt with injuries that have quite literally decimated the roster.

And that injury issue might be getting worse.

Third baseman Austin Riley was removed from today's game after being hit in the wrist by a pitch from Los Angeles Angels starter Jack Kochanowicz. The HBP came in the first inning, taking a 97.1 mph sinker off of the right wrist.

Riley was examined by athletic trainer Jeff Stevenson and stayed in the game to run the bases, but was removed when the defense took the field for the 2nd inning. Utilityman Luke Williams took over at third base.

It is the second straight day where the Braves have dealt with an injury caused by a hit-by-pitch. Catcher Travis d'Arnaud left last night's game late after taking a pitch to the wrist, replaced by Sean Murphy. d'Arnaud was not in today's lineup, although that's standard procedure for Atlanta when playing a day game after a night game.

Despite not going on the injured list, Rilet's not been immune to the injury bug this season. Tweaking an oblique on a swing, Riley was initially declared to be "day-to-day" before missing over two weeks with the issue.

The lineup is currently missing second baseman Ozzie Albies, on the IL with a broken wrist but expected back in September, as well as outfielder Jorge Soler (hamstring), who is expected back this week for the home series against the Philadelphia Phillies. Ronald Acuña Jr (torn ACL) will not be returning this season, although he is with the team in Los Angeles for this series.
