The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are coming off a 7-6 season under head coach Brent Key in 2023. Key capped off the 2023 campaign with a win in the Gasparilla Bowl. It was the first bowl game appearance for the program since the 2018 Quick Lane Bowl.

Georgia Tech will face the Florida State Seminoles to open the year on Aug. 24 in Dublin, Ireland. Many people, including "College GameDay" cast member Kirk Herbstreit, are excited about the Week 0 matchup.

Herbstreit responded to a fan's question about the recent decision to play college football in European countries like Ireland. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Navy Midshipmen played in Ireland last season.

However, Herbstreit's response angered some Georgia Tech fans. Herbstreit talked about how many Florida State fans are making the trip but did not mention Georgia Tech.

He made it sound like the only fans who would be at the game were Florida State's.

"Think Ireland folks are fired up from what I hear," Herbstreit said. "Excited for them. Also, hearing Noles bringing massive contingent over-which is great!"

Multiple Georgia Tech fans came to the defense of their program, talking about how many are also traveling to see the team play.

Georgia Tech is looking to build upon what Key did in year one. The Yellow Jackets return top talent like quarterback Haynes King, running back Jamal Haynes, safety LaMiles Brooks, and offensive tackle Jordan Williams.

The program has not been to consecutive bowl games since the 2013 Music City Bowl and 2014 Orange Bowl under former head coach Paul Johnson.

The Seminoles lead the all-time series 15-11-1 against the Yellow Jackets. The teams last played in 2022, with Florida State winning 41-16.

Kickoff from Aviva Stadium will be at noon ET on ESPN.
