Will OT Injury Crisis Force Browns to Sit Watson vs. Seahawks?

As the Cleveland Browns turn the page from thei r 27-12 loss to the Minnesota Vikings and begin preparing for their preseason finale versus the Seattle Seahawks, starting quarterback Deshaun Watson is expected to make his much-anticipated return from last season's shoulder injury.

“We’ll see,” coach Kevin Stefanski said of his plan to play Watson following Saturday's loss. “I mean, the plan is for Deshaun to play. Obviously, I take in all the information week-to-week, day-to-day, but that is the plan.”

After entering the preseason without two of their potential three starting offensive tackles, Jedrick Wills Jr. and Jack Conklin , due to both still recovering from injuries, the Browns' depth at offensive tackle is in an even more precarious position following Saturday.

The Browns saw all three backup offensive tackles go down with injuries in the losing effort. That list includes Germain Ifedi, who exited with a hand injury, James Hudson III (ankle), and Hakeem Adeniji (knee).

While there is no official word on the potential severity of these injuries, all of which sidelined the trio on Saturday, it does prompt a major concern heading into the preseason finale.

Sure, the Browns can go into free agency and add more depth at offensive tackle ahead of Saturday's game. But would they be comfortable having them protect their $230 million quarterback coming off an injury-riddled season?

That will be the major question ahead of the Browns' final preseason game against the Seahawks. But Stefanski has indicated that he still plans on playing his starting quarterback on Saturday.

The Browns will travel to Lumen Field on Saturday to take on the Seahawks. Kickoff is scheduled for 10 p.m. EST.
