It was a complete defensive effort from the Jaguars last night. Jacksonville held Tampa Bay to just 207 total yards and had five tackles for loss including three quarterback sacks. Third down efficiency was the difference as the Jags converted on 9 of 17 on offense but the Jaguars defense held Tampa to just 2 of 11 cutting short numerous drives.

While he didn’t make the game changing plays, Chad Muma was very active during his opportunities. He had four total tackles and was very effective against the first team Tampa Bay offense.

After the game, Muma spoke about his performance and how the defense continues to improve.

On getting a lot of reps in tonight’s game

Chad: Yeah, it’s really just getting those opportunities out there. There’s a lot of younger guys that were able to play that game. It’s awesome to be able to go from the joint practices and be able to play fast really. I think you saw a lot of guys doing that tonight.”

On who stood out to him tonight

Chad: Yeah, I feel like offensively, I like how hard Tank [RB Tank Bigsby] was running the ball. Austin [WR Austin Trammel] was making plays, Mac [QB Mac Jones], Brevin [WR Brevin Easton] with the touchdown on the sideline, that was awesome to see. Defensively, I think all-around, the linebackers, the younger linebackers that were coming in and making some plays. Defensive line getting the sacks, the way that we ended the game that was awesome to see and the stop that we had on that goal line. I think, all-around, you can pick a player from each position and they were making plays out there.”

On his performance in the game

Chad: Yeah, I think it’s important, whenever you have those opportunities, to make those plays. I feel like, when the opportunities came to me tonight, I was able to go show what I was able to do, and I’m happy with it.”

On what he thinks is clicking for the defense

Chad: I think it kind of goes back to the mindset we have each and every day. He really treats each day like a game day. With that, we’re trying to align and adjust before the pre-snap, win the pre-snap is what we talk about a lot. And then it’s also attack and aggressive, and I think you’re able to see that with our play in how guys are attacking the ball, getting hard hits and I think it just allows us to play fast too, and trust one another out there.
