The Jags won their second straight preseason game with a victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by a score of 20-7. Many starters sat this one out including Trevor Lawrence, Christian Kirk, Gabe Davis, Josh Hines-Allen and Travis Etienne. All in all, it was an inspired effort from Jacksonville who looked sharp on offense and created good pressure on defense, causing three sacks and five tackles for loss.

After the game, head coach Doug Pederson shared his thoughts on the victory over Tampa Bay.

On WR Parker Washington’s touchdown and how he has performed through training camp

Doug: Yeah, just anticipated him playing a little bit of shell defense right there, and they showed kind of an all-out pressure type look and they obviously bailed at the snap. So we had the right call on and just Parker down the middle, so he got in behind the second-level guys pretty quickly. Mac [QB Mac Jones] did a great job, great protection, and Mac made a heck of a throw there. Just a big play and got us going.

On RB Tank Bigsby’s performance tonight and in practices over the last week

Doug: Yeah, I think Tank is really improving. Obviously still some work to do. He did a nice job up again. He ran tough, took care of the football. Obviously, we'll take a look at the tape and watch it. I really think he's done some really good things for a young player and going to help us offensively and just continue to grow as a running back.

    On QB Mac Jones’ performance

Doug: Well, we knew two quarterbacks, that once Mac was done, he would have to stay ready in the second half. That's always a given. I thought overall, Mac played a solid football game. He was obviously into it. You saw his intensity out there. Made some great throws. Just led the team like expected. And for him to come back off the bench there late in the game to throw this touchdown pass to Brevin [WR Brevin Easton]. He loves playing. He loves playing the game. He did some great things tonight and helped us win this game.

On what he thought of the offensive line and defensive line performances

Doug: Yeah, I think the offensive line did a nice job there. Backs, tight ends, and even receivers on some of the perimeter stuff being able to block, that's what it takes in the run game. It's not your five O-linemen. It takes everybody. So, I thought they did some really nice things. Defensively, just keeping guys fresh. You see all the different rotations and substitutions that they do. Just keeps guys fresh for four quarters. We came up big at the end, and because guys were a little more -- I don't want to say completely fresh, but they were a little more -- had a little more juice there at the end.
