The Dallas Mavericks continue to make strategic moves both on and off the court, with their latest addition coming to the front office. According to Marc J. Spears , the Mavs are set to hire Makhtar N'Diaye as their new director of pro personnel and international scouting.

N'Diaye, 50, brings a wealth of experience to the role, having spent nine years as a scout for the New York Knicks. While his NBA playing career was brief—just four games with the Memphis Grizzlies in 1999—N'Diaye made history as the first player from Senegal to compete in the league.

The former big man's journey through basketball is diverse and impressive. After playing college ball at Michigan and North Carolina, N'Diaye had stints in the NBA D League (now G League) and played professionally in France. This varied background should prove valuable in his new role with Dallas, particularly in evaluating international talent.

This hire comes on the heels of a busy and successful period for the Mavericks. The team recently secured multi-year extensions for head coach Jason Kidd and GM Nico Harrison, and made a thrilling run to the NBA Finals in June—their first appearance since their championship season in 2011.

The Mavs have also been actively reshaping their roster this offseason. They made significant moves, bringing in Klay Thompson, Naji Marshall, and Quentin Grimes while parting ways with Josh Green, Derrick Jones, and Tim Hardaway Jr. Additionally, they re-signed Spencer Dinwiddie to a one-year, minimum-salary contract.

N'Diaye's addition to the front office signals the Mavericks' continued commitment to building a strong, well-rounded organization capable of competing at the highest level. His experience as both a player and scout should provide valuable insights as the team looks to maintain its competitive edge in the Western Conference.

As the Mavs gear up for the upcoming season, fans can be encouraged by the organization's proactive approach to strengthening all aspects of the franchise. With N'Diaye on board, Dallas adds another experienced eye for talent as they continue their pursuit of another NBA championship.
