Angel Reese Made WNBA History In Sky-Mercury

Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese is now the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 20 double-doubles in a single season.

The first-year star is currently in Phoenix, Arizona, competing against the Mercury in her 27th game of her rookie season.

She achieved the feat with a quarter left to play, having a stat line of 10 points and 16 rebounds in 27 minutes of game action.

At that point in the game, Reese punched in two shots from the free throw line while shooting 4-of-11 from field goal range.

Despite playing one of the tallest players in the league, Mercury center Brittney Griner, Reese was still able to show off her elite skill on the glass.

Heading into the matchup against the Mercury, the rookie was averaging 13.4 points and 12.0 rebounds per game, being the only rookie to average a double-double.

She's currently competing for the league's Rookie of the Year award, mainly battling Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark, who has averaged 17.6 points and 8.3 assists per game throughout the WNBA season.

Earlier in the year, Reese secured another historical record in the WNBA, notching the most consecutive double-doubles in league history.

She recorded 15 straight double-doubles, passing WNBA legend Candace Parker, who recorded the feat in the span of two seasons from 2009-10. That record came to an end on Jul. 13 against the New York Liberty when Angel Reese posted eight points and 16 rebounds.
