Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky were in the desert on Sunday, where the rookie had the chance to face off against two of the most experienced players in the WNBA, Brittney Griner and Diana Taurasi of the Phoenix Mercury.

Following the 86-68 loss for the Sky, Reese spoke with the media in the postgame press conference, sharing high praise for Griner.

She broke down Griner's game, pointing out her ability to be a successful offensive threat around the rim.

Reese mentioned that she studies parts of Griner's game since she's a decorated veteran that has shown elite-level talent for years.

“Obviously, she has experience," Reese said. "She's been doing this for a while and knows the calls she can get. I think she takes her time around the basket. That's something that I like to watch from her. Even when she doesn't know she's going to get the foul, she's going to take her time around the basket and finish. That's how she gets a lot of And-1's. So just being able to take that from her as a rookie [helps me]."

Angel Reese finished the game with a massive double-double, posting 19 points and 20 rebounds.

Despite having an exquisite showing, Griner and the Mercury came out on top with the dominant victory. The 6-foot-9 center ended the match with 18 points and five rebounds.

Throughout the WNBA season, the sizable center has averaged 18.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, while Reese has posted 13.6 points and 12.3 rebounds per game.

Griner has been in the league for over a decade, previously selected with the No. 1 overall pick in 2013.

She's since won a WNBA championship in 2014, while her individual accolades include being a two-time WNBA scoring champion, two-time Defensive Player of the Year, and ten-time WNBA All-Star.

Brittney Griner has been one of the best players in the WNBA for years, so battles like these for Reese could really help the rookie blossom if she's able to learn from the veteran's skill set.
