The Auburn Tigers are going to have one of the most difficult schedules in the entire country.

The Tigers are slated to play in the Maui Invitational this season against some of the best college basketball has to offer. According to Jon Rothstein, Auburn's first opponent they will face in the invitational will be the Iowa State Cyclones.

The rest of the opening matchups of the invitational are as follows:

    UConn/Memphis

    Michigan State/Colorado

    North Carolina/Dayton

Iowa State finished last season with a 29-8 record, making the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament before losing to Illinois. The Cyclones had the No. 1 defense in the nation according to KenPom. Torvik, another analytics website, has Iowa State as the No. 3 team in the nation as we approach the 2024-25 season.

Auburn is projected to be one of the nation's best teams as well. Torvik has Bruce Pearl & Co. ranked preseason No. 7. In the Way Too Early Top 25 preseason rankings, UH was picked No. 1 by CBS Sports and No. 2 by The Athletic , while Auburn was selected No. 8 and No. 10 by both media outlets respectively.

The Tigers' non-conference schedule already includes the Houston Cougars, Duke Blue Devils, and Purdue Boilermakers. Auburn signed a two-year series with Houston at the beginning of August.

United Sports & Entertainment (@USportsEnt) brings high-level college basketball to the cities of Houston, Texas, and Birmingham, Ala., with The Battleground 2k hoops series headlined by the two powerhouses out of the SEC and Big 12.

The first game in the series will take place on Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Toyota Center in Houston, and the following year at Legacy Arena in Birmingham, at a date still to be determined.
