2025 Top 10 Guard to Announce Decision Next Week

Kentucky got their first commitment in the class of 2025 on Friday when top 25 big man Malachi Moreno announced his commitment to the Wildcats. Now, a decision from another major target in the class is on the horizon. According to KSR's Jack Pilgrim , 2025 top 10 guard Jasper Johnson will be announcing his decision next week.

Johnson will be making his decision between Kentucky, Alabama, and North Carolina, with Arkansas and Lousville behind those three who are the clear frontrunners at this point. As reported recently , Kentucky's chances with Johnson seemed to be slipping until the Wildcats upped their NIL efforts, putting them well into the mix again for his services. While they did improve their efforts in terms of NIL, the five-star guard has stressed before that money will not be a deciding factor. Instead, the fit and relationship will play a large role in where he ends up.

With a decision coming next week, it gives the five-star guard time to reflect and make a decision after spending time at the Mamba Camp in Los Angeles recently, which is the reason he pushed his announcement date back to next week. For what it's worth, On3's Jamie Shaw recently made a prediction for Johnson to chose Alabama, where he added some intel on his recruitment with what he is hearing. "Through the summer and July period, UNC and Alabama were the two schools carrying momentum behind the scenes. Sources close to the recruitment tell me that UNC has fallen back some while Kentucky has made a push," Shaw said. "Over the last couple of weeks, I am told Kentucky has let it be known that Johnson is a top priority for them. While sources tell me Kentucky has made up some ground, a source close to the recruitment told me they are still watching Alabama."

Whatever happens, Kentucky has made it known Johnson is a top priority for them, even since Mark Pope over job. When it seemed like the Wildcats were slipping, they are right back in the mix as we head down the stretch.
