Has Mitchell-Paden Done Enough to Make Browns 53-Man Roster?

    By Austin Givan,

In a preseason game marked by injuries and setbacks, Zaire Mitchell-Paden shined as one of the few bright spots for the Cleveland Browns in their 27-12 loss to the Minnesota Vikings . As the team continues to grapple with a challenging preseason, Mitchell-Paden’s performance has elevated his chances of securing a roster spot.

Mitchell-Paden, who has been fighting to establish himself as the Browns' third tight end, delivered an impressive performance against the Vikings.

He hauled in four receptions for 59 yards, averaging 14.8 yards per catch, one of the best marks on the team that day. His ability to consistently move the chains when targeted demonstrated his value to the Browns' offense, particularly in crucial situations.

The Browns have been dealing with a series of injuries throughout the preseason, including to their offensive line and tight end group. The recent signing of center Nick Harris following the injury to Luke Wypler indicated a shift in the depth chart. This development could have impacted Mitchell-Paden’s chances, but he has responded by stepping up when the team needed him most.

Mitchell-Paden's emergence as a reliable receiving target provides the Browns with a versatile option, capable of contributing both as a traditional tight end and in various offensive formations. His solid preseason outings have likely propelled him ahead of other contenders like UDFA Treyton Welch for the third tight end spot on the 53-man roster.

With his strong performance against the Vikings, it would be surprising if he doesn’t secure a place on the team as they head into the regular season.

As the Browns prepare for their final preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks , Mitchell-Paden will have one last opportunity to solidify his standing on the roster. If he can replicate or build upon his recent performances, his spot on the team seems all but guaranteed.

In a preseason full of uncertainty, Zaire Mitchell-Paden’s consistent play has been a welcome sight for a team in need of reliable contributors.
