'Keep It Simple!' What's Jose's Secret to 3-Sack Day?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers didn't have a lot of bright spots on defense in their preseason loss Saturday, but the lone star was outside linebacker Jose Ramirez who recorded a rare "sack trick.'' ... that is, three sacks in one game.

Ramirez indicated that his approach was simple: attack the quarterback and don't overthink it.

After working hard all offseason to slim down and work on getting quicker, Ramirez could be in line to earn a roster spot after a big performance.

Ramirez spoke to the media about his historic night:

“Shoot, first of all, I’m thankful God gave me the day to get on that field and play the sport I like to play,” said Ramirez. “I felt good. The DBs were doing their job. Everybody was doing their job compressing the pocket, and I just ended up with the sack."

Since the Bucs are dealing with injuries in the outside linebacker group, that has opened the door for Ramirez to get more reps and he has capitalized. YaYa Diaby is still nurturing an ankle injury, and Joe Tryon-Shoyinka still isn't practicing with a neck injury.

Ramirez is listed at 6-2, 252 pounds which makes him a little undersized, but his quickness off the ball makes up for that.

Ramirez thanks some of his teammates for advice on rushing the quarterback:

“I am not going to lie to you,” Ramirez said. “Ever since I had a couple of rushes in practice where I was trying to do too much, I talked to Yaya [Diaby], I talked to other guys. They were like, ‘Man, just get off the ball.’ My first thing is always just get off the ball."

    Sounds simple enough.
