One player who has been making the most of his opportunities this preseason is running back Cam Akers. Coming into the training camp, Akers was very much a question mark considering his past injuries. But his body has held up and it appears he had a great chance of making the 53 man roster.

On Saturday, Akers had six carries for 29 yards. While that may not seem like an overly productive performance, he continues to run hard and is proving to be tough to tackle.

C.J. has certainly been impressed by what he has seen from the veteran running back. Here’s what the second year quarterback had to say about Cam’s play thus far.

On where he has seen RB Cam Akers grow since he arrived here

C.J.: He already kind of came nice. He's been playing at a high level since I can remember watching him in college. So, it's nothing that he changed. I think he's a little more focused now and just knows what he needs to do to get on the team. He's been working from there. His foundational work, I think, has been great in this offense, he's been in this type of style. He's going to continue to do great, and I'm really loving his game and how patient he is, but he hits the hole at the same time. He's a great back."

On RB Cam Akers run game and having so many young player contribute

C.J.:Yeah, the run game is very important. We know that. We're working on it very hard every day. It starts up front, and those guys are buying into that system. Then the backs are doing their job as well. I think Jawhar [Jawhar Jordan] and British [British Brooks] had two great games today, along with Cam and J.J. [J.J. Taylor] and D.P. [Dameon Pierce] Once that room gets rolling and it's a good connection between them and the O-line and where to cut back and hit the hole, just all the little nuances, I think that's when we'll start rolling.
